I first came across this shampoo while shopping in Japan. Actually came across it while browsing a magazine. Much of the hype was raving about the products from this company. Are the products really that good??

I passed by the boutique while shopping but the crowd in the shop was a show stopper. Later, I saw that they opened up an exclusive boutique Tangs (Orchard, top most floor) and decided to hop in to have a look.
After sniffing around for a bit, both the Orderange and the Reinforcing shampoos caught my attention. Mainly the way they smell as well as the ingredients that the shampoos were made from. Very spa-like indeed but the price was also very spa-like! Over $50 for a small bottle of shampoo, nahh.
Luckily, a few months later, a good friend of mine traveled to Japan and I tumpang-ed a few bottles of these babies back (With the conditioner as well). Having tried both, I particularly like the Reinforcing better.

Firstly, I prefer the scent of the reinforcing shampoo. It has a bit of lavender, ginger, lemongrass combined, which provides a more detoxed scent, also like wine, a more full-bodied scent compared to the orderange (Which has a more playful twist). Spa at home. Can’t beat that.

Secondly, it lathers quite fully with just about a 10cent coin size of shampoo. Mind you, that a bottle of this baby sells for about $60 for a 250ml, so it kinda makes your money goes a bit further when you don’t need to use that much peruse.
I use wax on my hair every morning, it can still effectively remove the wax and provide good cleaning. Definitely some winning points for this fact.
What I do is that I split my shampooing process into 2 parts.
1st part: Use a 5 cent coin size to rinse off the wax.
2nd part: Use another 5 cent coin size to provide more thorough cleaning.
This method was adopted by my friend’s mom! Great method, try it!

Thirdly, 93% of this shampoo is made from natural ingredients. These ingredients are certified by Soil Association, which is the Organic Certification from the UK’s largest organic certification body, as well as other organic certification organizations. THREE uses everything known to be beneficial to the hair, from Essentials oils to botanical extracts, and even hot spring water! The dedication to go to such lengths to make a shampoo is impressive. Japanese dedication indeed!
In terms of usage, I feel that the shampoo does not strip your hair of the natural oils, unlike some shampoo does. To the point where I don’t even need to use the conditioner most of the time. So my conditioner has been neglected for quite some time now.
Fourthly, the Reinforcing category is more for aging hair and hair loss. People like me who aren’t 20ish young punks capable of clubbing till morning light. Who faces the computer screen for more than 10hrs each day at the office, rather than relaxing at the beach. All these stress inevitably work its way up to the hair as well. Also, hair tends to thin as we age, so a volumizing shampoo was more appropriate for me.

My previous bottle of shampoo lasted me about 4 months ++. I shower twice a day, morning and evening. So mileage-wise, really not bad. The only problem is that Japan retails it much cheaper than it is in Singapore. So if you’re traveling to Japan, you can grab a bottle or two, I highly recommend it!
