As a rider of sports tourers for more than 10 years, then downgrading to a 400cc maxi scooter. I’ve got to say that this is my favourite bike.

At 400cc it isn’t too small. The pick up speed is adequate, the bike is light enough to reverse easily and also small enough to get myself out of tight situations on the road.

After riding it for slightly more than a year, this is my review of the Suzuki Burgman 400.

NTUC MOBILE

I often joke to people that my Burgman is a NTUC Mobile. With a Givi top box installed, it gives me more storage space than my previous sports tourers – Kawasaki GTR 1400 & Yamaha FJR 1300.

Under the seat, I can fit TWO Lim Ah Boy grade helmets. However you can only fit ONE if you are getting the better helmets which are bigger sized.

Marketing is a breeze, just don’t put the cold items under the seat because it can get pretty warm.

Do not put your rain coat under the seat either as the heat will affect the waterproof lining of your rain coat.

FUEL ECONOMY

Km/LitreAvg. RPMAvg. Speed
26+500075km/hr
25+500090km/hr

The cost of petrol (including discounts) is around $22-24

WEAR AND TEAR

Due to Singapore’s warm climate, the lining under the seat has worn off within the year.

The foam lining on the seat has torn and the rubber lining has melted. I will need to go get it fixed some day soon.

ACCESSORIES

I realised that the windshield was too low and the wind was buffeting the top of my helmet. So I went to purchase a wind deflector from Lazada that has served me well. It got a bit rusty /but at less than $30 I’m not complaining. A Givi equivalent would set me back $178!

The other accessory I got was the Scottoiler Cramp Buster. There are 2 versions, I got the shorter one. This accessory really eased up my wrist as I rode on the expressway.

That is my review of my 1 year old Suzuki Burgman 400 for now. Do let me know in the comments section about anything else you would like to know about the bike!
