Another transcript from a solid role model. David Goggins. His talk on mental resilience is on another level. Mad respect for him. You can read more about this inspiring metamorphosis at the link at the end of this post. Enjoy, Embrace the Suck by David Goggins

Most of us live our entire lives avoiding failures. It’s funny (how) I walk around, people come to me.
Man! You’re that Navy Seal, you went to Ranger School, you’re Air Force Tac-P, you did the pull up record, you ran the all these ultra races, all these shit man…

The funny thing about it, that i think about is this – They know that part of me.

This is the part i know about myself, i failed the ASBAV Test, to get in the military 3 times.
In the Air Force, i failed the para-rescue.
In the Seal, it took me 3 times to get through Navy Seals Training. The pull up record took me 3 times.

This is what i know about me.

So what’s i’m saying is this – you can’t live your life being afraid to fail, all the failures made me the success i am today.

A lot of us dream big, you should dream big, dreaming big is important. Some of us want to be doctors, lawyers, dentist. Some of us want to be in Special Operations.

So we have this big dream, you see it so clear. Like it’s right in front of it. You want to touch it. But the thing about it, is somewhere if you dream big enough somewhere down that journey. That dream become a motherfucking nightmare, and what happens in that nightmare. You start to have all these questions like (if you want to be in special Ops.)

You may not be a great swimmer, and you may just realise, I’m not just not a great swimmer, I’m not a great runner, you may start to fail tests, and all these questions start to flood your mind.

Why am I here? I’m not good enough. Trust me, I know all about the fucking questions, they will flood your mind. And if you do not have the answers for them, you will quit.

The answers lie in the repetitions, you must not forget, the repetitions you put in, to try to dominate the craft that you’re in today. Always! Embrace the suck. Adapt The suck.

Always x3!
Embrace the suck.
Adapt The suck.

Sometimes, life can really hijack your fucking mind. When that happens to you, you’re all fucked up, your goals, your ambitions, everything is out the fucking window. In life we all go through different things.

Sometimes your girlfriend or boyfriend breaks up with you, guess what?
Get the fuck over it. They no longer want you.

Maybe you fail at the test at school, you work your ass off, guess what? You failed the fucking test, get over it, move past it.

Learn to not let live hijack your brain.

At work you’ve been working your ass off for the new promotion
You don’t fucking get it, someone else does,
Maybe they kiss is better ass than you do, guess what?

Get over it. Life will hijack your mind, if you let it.

Don’t allow all this things to make you a lesser person. You must on your mind, don’t let life own yours.

Don’t allow all this things to make you a lesser person. You must on your mind, don’t let life own yours.

So, I get an email the other day. This young man wants to be a Ranger, but is afraid to get to Ranger school. Not because of how hard the training years, but because he’s afraid if he fails, what people are gonna to say, by judgement.

One thing in life, this applies to everything in life, any time you move from being normal to try and be exceptional, people aren’t going to like that shit.

Those normal people, it makes them feel like shit, so they going to judge you, and nowadays it’s very easy to be a fucking coward.
Why?
We got Instagram and shit.
And most folks don’t tell you to your face, go online then post about it like cowards, and don’t let cowards get in your fucking head.

And last thing, make sure, you do you.

You’re thinking too much of the bat, and when I lost my fucking weight, I ain’t look for a trainer, I didnt do all that thinking, I didn’t go on Keto crap, I didn’t do all that shit.

What I did was I basically stop eating so much fucking food, I cut my calories down so as far as the workout goes, we overthink that also.

Until you find a trainer, go out there and start fucking walking, put some shoes on and start running, go to the gym, do the elliptical trainer, it’s not rocket science. A lot of folks talk about overtraining, you got the train first, before you can overtrain.

A lot of folks talk about overtraining, you got the train first, before you can overtrain.

David Goggins

Sometimes wake up in the morning time in you’re sore, and you feel like you’ve overtrained, no.
You got sore fucking legs, get out of your own head and stop overthinking it.

So what’s your fucking excuse?
Is it too cold where you live?
Or is it too hot where you live?
Does it rain too fucking much?
Now it’s time for some real fucking talk.

Maybe you’re the only black person applying for a fucking job?
Or maybe you’re the only female.
Maybe you’re the only fucking gay person.

Job, whatever the fuck you maybe, maybe that shit is in your fucking head, maybe that’s your excuse for not being better.

Life is a real fucking big picture, when I was young, all those things got in my head.
Black,
Fucking not smart enough,
Single mum,
all that bullshit owned the space in my head!

But if you allowing people and things and situations, to own space in your fucking head, you are losing.

Lastly, life is one big fucking head again, playing with yourself. If you lose, it’s because you’ve allowed life to get in your fucking head.

You have to believe in one thing, and that is yourself.

Right now, for you to find greatness in yourself, you’re not going to find it by looking in a book, or by even hearing me, I may give you the spark, but you have got to go inside yourself to find it.

And that means you got to be quiet, shut the fuck up, go in the room, stop talking, search your soul, search on mind, search your abilities, and you’ll find it.

But if you’re not looking for it, you won’t find it.
